Ricardo M. Cisneros
I‘m Major Ricardo “Ric” Cisneros, the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) for the Lockhart High School AFJROTC program. I retired from the Air Force in 2013 after almost 28 years of service and I’m extremely happy for the opportunity to be the SASI of the LHS AFJROTC Corps.
I not only get a chance to work with amazing JROTC cadets and students at LHS, but I also get to work with the Lockhart community during the many community events and programs we participate in throughout the year.
I was enlisted for the first half my Air Force career, starting out as an aircraft mechanic on F-16’s, and later, becoming an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor at Sheppard AFB (near Wichita Falls TX) where I taught mostly 18 – 22 year old airmen aircraft system knowledge and how to perform maintenance on the F-16; formal classroom and hands-on instruction.
While at Sheppard AFB, I earned my Master Instructor Badge and completed Associate Degrees from the Community College of the Air Force in Aircraft Technologies and Instructor of Technologies.
I used the Military’s Tuition Assistance Program to complete a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Occupational Education from Wayland Baptist University and applied for Air Force Officer Training School (OTS).
I was selected to attend OTS and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 2000 in the Aircraft Maintenance/Logistics Officer Career Field and retired at the rank of Major 2013.
It was an honor and a privilege to have served this great country for almost 28 years and look forward to working with JROTC cadets, Lockhart HS teachers/staff, and the entire Lockhart community.
"Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community”
The objectives of JROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.
The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.
The curriculum emphasizes the Air Force heritage and traditions, the development of flight, applied flight sciences, military aerospace policies, and space exploration. Curriculum opportunities include:
Life skills education
Field trips / training opportunities
In an effort to produce well-informed and helpful citizens, AFJROTC encourages its cadets to get involved in their local communities. This is one of the most interesting and fun aspects of the AFJROTC experience. The number, type and size of cadet community projects are limited only by their imagination.
