Coach Cich's goal is to help all of his students achieve success in math and prepare for them for education, careers and life after high school.  His mission is always "STUDENTS FIRST!" In the classroom he practices the new "3 R's of Education: Rigor, Relevance and Relationships" to help his students become "Life Ready." 
Coach Cich joined the Lockhart High School Math Department in 2009. From 2012-15, he served as Assistant Coach for Cross Country and Track, and since 2014 he has served as Assistant Coach for Soccer at Lockhart High School and Lockhart Junior High School.  He has taught math since 2005 at community colleges and high schools in Texas, including Algebra 1, PreAP and Regular Algebra 2, PreAP and Regular Precalculus, Advanced Algebra, and Advanced Quantitative Reasoning   For the 2016-17 school year, he will be teaching Advanced Quantitative Reasoning, Statistics and Precalculus.  He currently serves on the LISD District Advisory Committee for the 2016-17 school year.

Prior to joining the Lockhart Lions team, Coach Cich served on the faculty of Calallen High School in Corpus Christi and Coastal Bend College in Alice.  He graduated with honors from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota, with a B.A. in Mathematics and Psychology.  He attended graduate school for Quantitative Psychology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.


Prior to beginning his teaching career, Coach Cich served as the CEO of chambers of commerce in Alice, Fort Bend County, Huntsville, and Seward, Alaska. He served as the Senior Vice President of the Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce from 1985 to 1990.  Coach Cich served on the statewide Coordinating Committee of the Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) from 2002 - 2009.  TBEC was the sponsor of the Texas Scholars Program, which was initiated to encourage high school students to take higher level math and science courses. Based upon the success of Texas Scholars, the Texas Education Agency adopted the Texas Scholars curriculum as the state's recommended graduation plan.


Coach Cich is a native of Minnesota.  He has lived in Texas since 1984.  Prior to his move to the Lone Star State, Coach Cich spent five years in Alaska, living in Anchorage, Seward and Kodiak. 


Coach Cich has been married to Marjaana since 1985.  They have one son, Stefan, who graduated in December 2010 from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Aerospace Engineering.  Stefan works as a Mechanical Engineer with Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, which is one of the oldest and largest independent, nonprofit, applied research and development organizations in the United States.
