Parking at LHS

Parents/Visitors, Students and Staff:  If you park on the street, our School Resource Officer is reminding everyone that it is against state law to park within 20 feet of a crosswalk or intersection. This is because it blocks the view of any side traffic approaching the intersection. From today on, any vehicles parked within 20 feet of an intersection or crosswalk will receive a citation for Unlawful Parking within 20 feet of Intersection or Crosswalk, which is a Class C misdemeanor. This could result in up to a $75 fine at Municipal Court, and because it is not a moving violation Defensive Driving cannot be taken. Intersections are where any connecting roads enter or exit and might or might not have stop signs. Crosswalks are the two painted white stripes in the roadway where the children walk between, before, or after school. Please make sure you are parking your vehicles at least 20 feet away from any intersections, stop signs, or crosswalks or a citation will be issued. Thank you!
